Rancho Del Rey and Chula Vista News: What the City Is Deciding

Chula Vista stories that matter to Rancho Del Rey owners and buyers, newest first, with a line on why each one matters.

NEIGHBORHOOD NEWS · OCTOBER 2026

Rancho Del Rey sits in the middle of Chula Vista's east side, close to EastLake, Otay Ranch and the bayfront, so city decisions elsewhere in town often reach it. This page collects the recent ones, newest first, in plain language, and says why each matters. Each item links to the original report.

  • Council approves financing for an EastLake storage project after the developer drops a neighborhood road (Aug 13, 2026) — Neighbors who worried about traffic on a quiet cul-de-sac got what they asked for. When the council voted 4-0 to approve financing for an EastLake self-storage project, the developer had already revised its plans to remove the Saint Germain Road connection. The project covers 9.35 acres near South Bay Expressway and Eastlake Drive, and the developer is aiming for summer 2027. The site is in EastLake, a short drive from Rancho Del Rey, and shows how the council weighs neighbor concerns. Hoodline, reporting from the San Diego Union-Tribune
